How many giant pandas are there in China?

Giant pandas are endemic to China and are also the flagship species for biodiversity conservation in the world. Their main habitats are in the mountainous areas of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu. Factors such as deforestation, human activities and climate change have all posed a threat to their habitats. Secondly, the reproduction rate of giant pandas in the natural environment is relatively low, and the number of pandas that can produce cubs each year is very limited.
