China Aviation Development Corporation announced that at 18:30 on October 18, the final assembly of the 900-kilowatt turboprop engine AEP100, which was completely independently developed by China Aviation Development Corporation, and equipped with the Beluga Line W5000 large unmanned transport aircraft rolled off the assembly line.

According to reports, this type of engine was designed by China Aerospace Engineering Research Institute and manufactured by China Aviation Engineering South. It was developed based on the "shaft-to-propeller" modification of the 1,000-kilowatt civil turboshaft engine AES100 certified in August 2024. It is safe, reliable, and long-lasting. Features such as longevity and low fuel consumption can significantly reduce operating costs. It is planned to obtain airworthiness certification in 2025.

The AEP100 turboprop engine can be equipped with 2-6 ton general-purpose aircraft or 3-10-ton unmanned aerial vehicles, and its comprehensive performance reaches the international advanced level of the same level currently in service. The final assembly of the W5000 large unmanned transport aircraft equipped with Beluga Line is an important milestone in the market development of this engine.

The Beluga Line W5000 Bai large unmanned transport aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 10.8 tons, a load capacity of nearly 5 tons, and a range of 2,600 kilometers. It is the world's largest unmanned cargo aircraft and is mainly used in areas such as regional aviation logistics and emergency relief material delivery.
