"After 2026, BAIC New Energy will further promote the mass production and application of L4 and above unmanned driving systems. L4 level unmanned driving means that the vehicle can be fully autonomous under certain conditions. In addition, BAIC New Energy will also launch a fully automatic parking system to enable the vehicle to autonomously find parking spaces and complete parking operations, further improving the user experience." Recently, Zhang Guofu, general manager of BAIC New Energy, said at the World Intelligent Connected Conference.
In recent years, BAIC Group has actively embraced the era of intelligent connected vehicles, guided by customer needs, and focused on the layout of core technology areas such as "intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit, and electronic and electrical architecture". At present, BAIC New Energy has made significant progress in the research and development and application of autonomous driving technology, and has set clear future goals.
In September 2024, BAIC New Energy sold 15,781 vehicles, and sold 67,849 vehicles from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%. Polar Fox sold 10,880 vehicles in September, and the cumulative sales from January to September were 46,741 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 210%. In addition, monthly sales of Alpha T5 reached a record high of 4,520 units, and monthly sales of Alpha S5 exceeded 3,000 units, a month-on-month increase of 16%. Monthly sales exceeded 10,000 units for two consecutive times.
It is planned to focus on high-level intelligent driving systems by 2025
According to data, by 2030, the added output value of vehicle-side intelligence in my country can reach 2.8 trillion yuan, and the penetration rate of new cars with L2 and above intelligent driving systems is constantly increasing, and it is expected to exceed 60% in 2024.
"This is a huge red ocean." Zhang Guofu said, "The coverage of scenarios is becoming increasingly rich, and the user experience is constantly enhanced."
It is understood that the intelligent networked vehicle industry is now in the ascendant, and BAIC New Energy has done a lot of exploration and promotion. In terms of self-developed technology, BAIC has fully developed the "BAIC Intelligent Driving" system, and currently has realized functions such as highway point-to-point navigation assisted driving (NOA), automatic parking, and memory parking. At the same time, by creating the "BAIC Intelligent Cabin-Full Vehicle AI Intelligent Body", a scenario-based intelligent space is realized.
In August this year, STELATOS9, a new masterpiece of the in-depth cooperation between "BAIC + Huawei", was officially launched. It is the first in the industry to be equipped with HUAWEI ADS3.0 high-level intelligent driving system, upgraded to an end-to-end architecture, capable of coping with complex traffic scenarios and realizing intelligent driving and navigation assistance functions in urban areas. In June 2024, BAIC was selected into the first batch of L3 intelligent connected vehicle pilot lists of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and is expected to enter the road traffic pilot stage by the end of the year.
Zhang Guofu said: "Every car manufacturer is resolute in its attitude and willingness towards the strategy of intelligence, because everyone knows that electrification and intelligence determine the future competition of automobiles and the future competition pattern of automobiles." Zhang Guofu introduced: "In terms of intelligent connected vehicle technology, we have established a product development system based on the integration of product attributes and performance and product experience, forming nearly 500 corporate standards in four categories. In terms of intelligent connected vehicle products, we have developed the B-Pilot system since 2018, and have completed four major updates and iterations so far. More than ten models have been launched in sedans, SUVs, and off-road vehicles." He further stated that the intelligence of automobiles is rapidly upgrading, and it is actually running all the way. How to do a good job in smart cockpits and smart driving, form a cross-domain fusion product of cabin-driving collaboration led by self-research, and move from single-point intelligence to collaborative intelligence, and provide users with the third space and smart travel intelligent experience. Everyone is walking this road very seriously, and everyone also hopes to have their own characteristics on this road.
